Feeder Project

A short-term feeder project is a great way to utilize extra pasture, hay or feed grain that you might have available. These projects are usually completed in less than 12 months.

As a rancher, there are no fees to participate. There’s no need to write a check or send a cash donation. Your only responsibility is to donate your feed and care for the livestock you plan to feed. We will provide the funds to purchase the livestock of your choice from you, your neighbor or sale barn. The livestock becomes the property of STEER, Inc. and needs to be identified by placing a STEER, Inc. ear tag on the animal, or using a STEER, Inc. registered brand if you have brand laws in your state.

Agreement of Stewardship

Before you start a project, we will need you to sign an Agreement of Stewardship Form stating that you will provide the daily feed and care of the animal and tell us who you want to support. The greatest benefit is that you get to choose the missionary or mission project you want to partner with from within our member mission organizations. That way, you get to be personally involved in seeing the profits from your project go toward your chosen designation as the gospel reaches more and more people through your investment.

Agreement of Stewardship

When it comes time for you to sell the livestock, you do it in the name of STEER, Inc. If you’re selling some of your own livestock at the same time, simply take the overall average and have the marketing agent make the check payable to STEER, Inc. By not involving your personal account you will not have to declare the STEER, Inc. livestock as income.

And what about the original investment? Well, the great benefit of STEER, Inc. is that we always retain the original investment and use it for other projects. Later, you will receive a Notice of Sale form from us for the gain on the project. The gain is the amount remaining after the original investment is deducted. Right now, 95% of the gain is sent to your mission designation.

If for some reason the livestock becomes sick, call your local veterinarian and send the bill to us. Should the animal die, notify us right away and we will send you an insurance loss form. We do not expect you to stand the loss. Any losses are covered by our insurance fund generated from holding a percentage of the gain when the livestock is sold.
