Marketing Instructions for Any Livestock


  1. Call us at 701-258-4911 before you prepare to sell any livestock so we have the details of where you are selling and when you will deliver them. This is also a wonderful time to confirm your mission designations.
  2. Sell the animal(s) in the name of STEER, Inc. You can take an average if you are selling some of your own cattle at the same time. Just ask the sales barn office to prorate the check. By marketing in the name of STEER, Inc., you do not have to declare the proceeds as income.
  3. On long-term livestock projects, the offspring is considered the gain. Any time the breeding animal is sold, those funds come back to STEER and are put back into our Legacy Fund so the funds may be reinvested.  One short-term projects, the gain is the amount remaining after the original investment is deducted.
  4. Always take STEER, Inc. marketing card with your name, address and description of the animal(s) sold to the sales barn office. (Do not expect the yard man to get it there.) The sales barn needs to send the marketing card, along with the payment, to the STEER office. The marketing card is a huge help to us as we have all the information needed to process the payment when we receive it.
  5. On the bottom of the STEER, Inc., marketing card is STEER’s address. Make sure the sales barn uses our STEER, Inc., address at PO Box 1236, Bismarck, ND 58502, not yours.
  6. We process the checks shortly after we receive them. If you do not receive a Notice of Sale Form from our office within a few weeks of your sale, call our office and let us know. The sooner we can track down a lost check the better.
  7. Please be informed that when you receive a Notice of Sale Form from us that this is not a tax-deductible receipt but only gives information on the gain from your project.

Marketing Instructions for God’s Acres

  1. Call us at 701-258-4911 before you prepare to sell any grain so we have the details of where you are selling it and when you will deliver it. This is also a wonderful time to confirm your mission designations.
  2. Transport the grain to the elevator under your name and have it weighed so that you have a record of your proven yield. Then assign the designated bushels to STEER, Inc. We will have to call the elevator and let them know we want to sell the grain. They will make the payment to STEER, Inc. and send it directly to us. By marketing in this way, you do not need to declare the proceeds as income.
  3. Always take STEER, Inc. marketing card with your name, address and description of the crop to the elevator office. The marketing agent needs to send the marketing card, along with the payment, to us. The marketing card is a huge help to us as we have all the information needed to process the payment when we receive it.
  4. On the bottom of the marketing card is our address. Make sure the marketing agent uses our STEER, Inc. address at PO Box 1236, Bismarck, ND 58502, not yours.
  5. We process the checks when we receive them. We will send out the Notice of Sale Form from our office upon receiving the check.
